In the abortion debate, is there a "Conflict of Interest"

reposting for my Friend, Pastor Hoye

A Weekly Column By Walter B. Hoye II Conflict Of Interest

In the abortion debate, is there a "Conflict of Interest"
within the Black community and among her leaders?

Unintended Pregnancy

According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute (AGI) at least half of all American women will experience an unintended pregnancy by age 45, and, at current rates, about one third will have had an abortion. If we dig a little deeper we discover that 37% of women obtaining abortions identify as Protestant and 28% as Catholic. In other words, 65% of women obtaining abortions identify themselves as Christians. It appears that if Christians stop having abortions, Planned Parenthood would be facing bankruptcy. As I think about these numbers, I cannot help but wonder how effectively we as Christians are engaging the culture for Christ's sake?

Never Married, Not Cohabiting

AGI continues to report that women who have never married and are not cohabiting account for 45% of all abortions and about 61% of abortions are obtained by women who have one or more children. Could it be true that the men and women in our congregations do not care how much we preach because they cannot see how much we care? Could James 2:16 describe the Church today? In my opinion, until the quality of life for women and children is improved by the practical applications of unconditional love, many woman will continue to be attracted to the false sense of security abortion provides.

Reasons Women Give For Having An Abortion

Again, according to AGI, the reasons women give for having an abortion (i.e., deliberately terminating the life of the child they are carrying in their womb), underscore their understanding of the responsibilities of parenthood and family life. 75% of women cite concern for or responsibility to other individuals, the same women go on to say they cannot afford a child and that having a baby would interfere with work, school or the ability to care for dependents. 50% add that they do not want to be a single parent or are having problems with their husband or partner. Correct me if I am wrong, but are not these the kind of issues that the Body of Christ can and should solve? Is not solving these issues the point of Ephesians 4:12 and James 1:27?

Brothers, we really need to talk.

Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research

Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research
On April 17, 2009, The National Institutes of Health (NIH) released draft guidelines on Human Stem Cell Research.
Despite mounting evidence that cord blood and adult stem cell research have resulted in numerous therapies for various diseases, and research using human embryos has yet to produce one successful cure or therapy, it appears that the Obama Administration will continue to support research that is ethically questionable and scientifically unsound.

According to the NIH, the draft guidelines are expected to be published in the Federal Register on Friday, April 24, 2009 and will be open for public comment for the 30 days following publication. More information in that regard is available at the NIH website. The link provided in the preceding paragraph will route you to more detailed information related to public comment on the draft guidelines.

See what the Stem Cell Debate is all about in the new Center for Bioethics and Culture Documentary, The Lines That Divide: The Great Stem Cell Debate. (A 30-second preview is available at the link). LLDF is proud to have been one of several organizations who contributed to the production of Lines That Divide, which presents all aspects of the stem cell debate and leaves little room to doubt the truth of the recent proclamation on Oprah that the stem cell debate is dead.

A forced abortion, or life-saving medical decision?

A forced abortion, or life-saving medical decision?: "Caitlin Bruce describes what happened at Flint’s Feminine Health Care Clinic on Saginaw Road as terror.  She says Dr. Abraham A. Hodari forced on her an abortion she decided she did not want after seeing the ultrasound image of her unborn baby."

Two of America’s largest pro-abortion groups are spending $10,000,000 each to influence the November elections at all levels of government. Those two groups are Planned Parenthood and NARAL.
On top of that, Hollywood elitists and the financiers of the “global warming/population control” crowd – individuals like Bill Gates, Ted Turner, Warren Buffet and George Soros – are giving tens of millions of dollars to extremist pro-abortion groups.
Their goal is to keep abortion-on-demand the law of the land because they know, as my mentor the late John Cardinal O’Connor once said, that if something is legal, people tend to think it’s moral.
In truth, that’s the main reason why Priests for Life works so hard to educate voters. http://www.priestsforlife.org

But right now our efforts to oppose Planned Parenthood and NARAL and the rest of the abortion cabal are suffering because contributions to Priests for Life this June and July have been far lower than projected.

Blood Money Movie, check it out

It's a multi billion dollar industry........killing innocent human beings at their most vulnerable stage of development.......Planned Parenthood's monthly quota of abortions.......

I know each of you is concerned with abortion in America , so I wanted to let you know about a new independent documentary film, Blood Money, that exposes the terrible truth. The producers must show that enough people are interested in the film before it can be shown in theaters. All you have to do is visit the site. You don't even have to sign up; I think the site just tallies the number of visitors. Anyway, it literally only takes seconds, and if you want to view the trailer, it is about 2 1/2 minutes long - I was surprised by how cinematically professional it is - gave me chills. If this makes it into the public eye, the results could change MANY lives.

Check it out and SHARE THIS EMAIL WITH OTHERS
